Every code read. Every parcel measured.

Strobed LED lighting, laser line generators, projectors and protective enclosures for scan tunnels, DWS, verification, goods-in and warehouse guidance.

Scan tunnels and barcode reading

Strobed LED lighting that freezes parcels at conveyor speed.

Multi-sided scan tunnels use cameras and synchronised lighting to capture codes on parcels as they move along the conveyor. Exaktera LED bar, line and area lights are strobed in sync with the camera and overdriven for very short, bright pulses that freeze the image. Polarised versions reduce glare from shrink wrap, poly bags and glossy labels, and red, white or infrared illumination is selected to suit the code, packaging and camera.

Dimensioning and DWS

Laser dimensioning and barcode lighting for DWS stations.

DWS systems can combine dimensional measurement, weighing and barcode capture in one pass, with data passed to the operator’s shipping or billing workflow. Exaktera laser line generators provide the structured light used to measure length, width and height, and Exaktera LED lighting gives the barcode camera stable, even illumination across wide conveyors and a range of parcel heights.

Verification stations

Label checks, pick verification and robot bin picking.

After a print-and-apply machine, a camera checks label presence and position and, depending on the system, reads or verifies the printed code. Bright-field bar, ring and flood lights give strong print contrast, while coaxial or polarised lighting helps with glossy and metallic labels. Compact ring, bar and area lights also suit close-range cameras on robot bin-picking cells and cameras at pick-to-light and goods-to-person stations that confirm the right item, barcode or tote.

Goods-in damage detection

Even, shadow-free lighting to record parcel condition at goods-in.

Imaging every inbound parcel records its condition on arrival and gives timestamped evidence for freight claims. Exaktera large diffuse area lights and flat dome lights give even, shadow-free images of parcels up to 1000 x 700 mm and beyond. Low-angle and dark-field bar lights make dents, crushed corners and tears stand out, and polarised lighting controls reflections from shrink wrap and plastic film.

Laser guidance

Laser projection for forklifts, AGVs, pick zones and loading docks.

Exaktera laser modules and projectors give operators clear visual cues in the warehouse. Line or cross lasers can give forklift operators a visual reference for fork height and pallet alignment. Laser projectors can mark picking positions or provide operator guidance where the application calls for a changeable visual cue. For AGVs, lasers can help with position indication and collision avoidance.

Cold stores and harsh environments

Protecting equipment in cold stores, dust and dirt.

In cold stores, warm air coming through open doors can condense on lenses and light windows, labels can be wet or frosted, and equipment cycles between freezer and dock temperatures. Exaktera enclosures can be fitted with a heating plate accessory which, when powered continuously, holds the enclosure at an elevated temperature so condensation is much less likely to form on the window. Where compressed air is available, a wind curtain adds further protection. Polarised lighting can help reduce glare from wet labels.

In dusty sortation areas, dust can build up on camera and light windows, especially at the bottom of scan tunnels. Tell us about your environment and we will help you choose the right protection.
