BF25x25 Area Light

Introduction

31 × 31 × 15 mm. 35 grams. The smallest light in the BASIC range, and the only one in it that will strobe.

Sixteen SMD LEDs behind either a diffusing window or a clear one — the same body, two different jobs.

Diffuse or directed

Diffuse gives an even emitting surface with no visible LEDs. As a backlight that is what puts a clean silhouette edge on the part; as incident light it is forgiving of surface texture.

Directed replaces the diffusing window with a clear one and lets the LEDs throw a 30° beam. Less even up close, considerably brighter further out — the illuminance at 0 mm runs to 117,445 lx against 29,319 lx at the diffuse end of the range, and at 100 mm from 473 lx to 9,651 lx.

That spread across the range is the choice, not a tolerance. Pick the guidance for the working distance.

The only one that strobes

Alone in the BASIC range, BF25x25 can run in strobe mode with the LUMIMAX BFC1 controller: 100 % brightness within 5 µs, and a flash duration set on the controller's potentiometer at 10–100 µs, 20–220 µs or 50–750 µs.

Use only BFC1 extension cables between light and controller — item number 115.0003.2x. That is the supplier's instruction, not a recommendation.

In continuous and switching mode it reaches full brightness within 3.5 ms, driven from a PLC 24 V DC input.

Five colours, and one worth noting

White, two reds, infrared — and blue at 470 nm, which no other size in the range offers.

Applications

Backlight or incident light for small parts: silhouette and edge detection, presence and absence, hole detection, small-part gauging.

Where it fits

The bottom of the BF ladder. BF50x50, BF100x100, BF150x150 and BF200x200 are the same design at larger fields, none of which strobes.
