About the Compact
Introduction
Compact is the OEM building block: Ø8 × 34 mm, in brass or hard anodised aluminium.
At that size it goes inside the product rather than onto it — handheld instruments, barcode readers, short-range positioning.
Specification
Three optics are available — spot at 23 mm, line at 29 mm, and cross at 29 mm with a 10 mm optic section — so the overall length depends on which is fitted.
Housing choice
Brass conducts heat well and machines precisely. Hard anodised aluminium is lighter and harder-wearing at the surface. For an enclosed instrument the choice is usually thermal; for an exposed one it is usually wear.
Where it fits
Compact is the entry point. Digital Compact is the same body with RS232 control and a wider temperature range; Photon steps up to IP67 stainless and far more power.
