Digital Compact

Introduction

Digital Compact is the Compact with a serial port. Same Ø8 × 34 mm body, plus RS232 control and programmatic power adjustment.

That changes what the module is. An analogue module is set at commissioning; this one can be read and adjusted by the host system while it runs — useful when output has to track a measurement rather than sit at a fixed level.

The wider temperature range

−10 °C against the base Compact's +10 °C. Twenty degrees at the cold end, in the same body — which matters for anything that starts from cold or sits near a door.

Applications

Medical and electronics OEM — fields where the instrument logs what the laser was doing as well as what the sensor saw, and RS232 is how it asks.

Where it fits

Choose Digital Compact over Compact when the host needs to control or interrogate the module. Neither is sealed beyond IP40; for a wet environment, Photon and Photon PRO are IP67.
