About the LES40-W
Introduction
A coaxial light puts the illumination on the camera's own axis. Light enters from the side, meets a 45° beam splitter, and leaves towards the part along the line the lens is looking down.
On a flat reflective surface that is the difference between an image and a picture of your own lighting rig. There is no oblique angle, so there is no shadow and no glare lobe.
LES40 is the smallest of the family: a 40 × 40 mm light field for small parts.
The controller is inside
There is no external controller box. Brightness is set on the light itself — a potentiometer from 0 % at the left stop to 100 % at the right — or driven from the machine over the analogue VC input, 2 to 10 V DC.
That matters more than it sounds. A coaxial light sits close to the camera, in the tightest part of the cell; a separate controller is another box, another cable run and another thing to mount.
Continuous, switched or strobed
Three modes, chosen by part number.
Triggering takes TTL at 3 to 30 V DC or PLC at 15 to 30 V DC, on the rising edge.
What it puts on the part
Each range spans the colour options — measured, not calculated. Strobe buys roughly twenty times the illuminance at a given distance, which is what makes a moving line possible at a short exposure.
Electrically the same trade: 3 to 4 W continuous at the light field against 200 to 215 W in a flash.
Applications
Small-part inspection where the surface is flat and reflective — PCB, wafer, glass, polished metal, printed and laser-marked codes.
Where it fits
LES40 is the compact one. LES60, LES80, LES100 and LES160 are the same optical principle over larger fields, up to 160 × 160 mm.
