About the LMX-LG2020-V02
Introduction
A LightGuide panel: the LEDs sit at the edge and a guide carries their output across the full 200 × 200 mm face. That is what makes the panel 22 mm thick with no hot spots on it.
It works as incident light and as transmitted light — the same panel above the part or behind it, which is unusual and is the reason to specify one.
Collimated or diffuse
Collimated keeps the rays parallel. Behind a part that gives a hard silhouette edge with no light creeping round it, so a gauging measurement is repeatable rather than dependent on how far the part sits from the panel.
Highly diffuse spreads the output. As transmitted light it is the softer, more forgiving option; as incident light it is what a textured or curved surface needs.
What it puts out
Those ranges span the guidance and the colours together — a collimated white and a diffuse infrared are both in there. Read the figure for the part number.
Timing
100 % brightness within 8 µs in strobe, 200 µs in switching mode. Note that the first pulse after initial operation is delayed by 3 ms — build that into the sequence rather than discovering it on the first part of a run.
The face is pale when it is off
The light area of this build is light-coloured when switched off, so it reflects. Where the panel sits in the camera's field of view — behind a part, in frame — that reflection becomes part of the image.
LG2020-BK-V02 is the same panel with a black, low-reflecting face for exactly that case.
Applications
Silhouette and edge detection, object gauging, presence and absence, hole detection, part location and orientation — and, as incident light, general area illumination at short working distances.
Where it fits
The largest of the three of the LG range: LG1010 at 100 × 100 mm, LG1515 at 150 × 150 mm, LG2020 at 200 × 200 mm, with LG3020 and LG4030 above them.
