Z5A Belt Aligner

The Z5A Belt-Aligner is a laser-based tool for teh precise alignment of belt drives and pulleys. Based on a battery driven ZAT laser, this tool has proven its worth a thousand times over. A 100 N magnetic mount holds the purpose-built block wherever it is placed, so the red line runs exactly parallel to the magnetic contact surface, 19 mm above it, with no set up.

Boresight error is 0.5 mrad and the 90 degree line optic is fixed focused at 2000 mm, giving a 1 mm thick line at that distance, fine enough to read a small misalignment across a long drive. Magnetic aluminum target markers come in the set, so every wheel is judged against the same reference line.

The 635 nm module puts out 5 mW at laser class 1M, bright enough for a machine floor, and runs 15 to 20 hours on a 1.5 V AA cell or a 1.2 V rechargeable with polarity protection. The nickel-plated brass body is 124 mm by 20 mm, the bracket 49 by 27 by 32.5 mm, about 250 g together, rated IP40 from -10 to +40 degrees C and supplied in a plastic case.
