Light engineered to your measurement.
Laser modules and LED sources for particle detection and analysis, with wavelength, power, beam shape and stability tailored to your instrument.
Beam shape, wavelength and power
From smoke detection to characterising pharmaceutical powders, accurate particle counting and sizing start with the light source.
In particle analysis, a laser beam passes through air or liquid, and the particles it meets scatter light. What your detectors see depends on the particles and on how you illuminate them. The beam’s size and shape define the measurement volume, and its wavelength and power determine which particles you can detect.
Exaktera laser modules come in configurable beam shapes. We can also design a beam to the exact size and profile your measurement needs.
Shorter wavelengths are better for detecting very small particles, and longer wavelengths suit larger ones. Air quality monitoring is a good example. It has to detect the finest particles, because those travel deepest into the lungs. Our lasers cover a range of wavelengths, and we can tailor wavelength and output power to your application.

Narrow-band excitation for fluorescence and scattering.
Fluorescence excitation is most efficient when the source spectrum closely matches the fluorophore’s absorption band. We characterise and select our narrow-band LEDs to the wavelength tolerance your instrument requires. They are available as LED packages for your own optical design or as complete LED modules.
For scattering, interferometry and alignment, our lasers are available in a range of wavelengths and power levels. Stability and coherence length are specified for the application.

Stable output your system can be calibrated to.
Laboratory instruments have to be maintained and carefully calibrated. A laser with stable output keeps recalibration to a minimum and means your system can be reliably calibrated to a known source. Thermal management is designed into our modules, and digital laser modules add control and monitoring for wavelength and power stability.
In industrial monitoring, lasers are often installed in places that are hard to reach, where replacing them is difficult, unsafe and costly in downtime. For these locations, IP67-rated laser modules are designed for robust, reliable output in harsh environments.

From standard modules to fully tailored designs.
Our standard laser modules solve many particle analysis requirements. Where your instrument needs something different, we tailor as much as is required, from the exact wavelength and output power to the mechanical form. Mechanical components are machined in-house, so each module is designed to install quickly in your system without extra design work on your side.

Our application engineers work from your specification: wavelength, power, beam geometry and interface. Tell us about the measurement application and we’ll tell you what can be built.
