Gecko

Introduction

Gecko is a compact protective enclosure for machine vision cameras working where the camera itself would not survive: washdown areas, dust, vibration, and the ordinary knocks of a production floor.

It measures 66 x 66 x 190 mm and weighs 660 g with a Flir Ax5 fitted. The body is anodised aluminium, sealed to IP66.

Choosing the window

The window is the part that decides what the camera can see, and it is specified separately from the enclosure.

The aperture is 45 mm, and the standard options are BK7, sapphire, germanium and acrylic — the acrylic uncoated or with double-sided anti-reflective coating. Sapphire and germanium are the SWIR and LWIR choices; BK7 and acrylic cover the visible and near infrared.

The window seal is EPDM. Enclosure seals are NBR and the cable gland seal is TPE.

Fitting the camera

Gecko takes a camera up to 39 x 53 mm with a lens up to 55 mm in diameter. Inner length is 178 mm with an Ax5 installed.

The cable gland aperture is 22 mm on rear wall A and 26.5 mm on rear wall C, so the connector, not the cable, is usually what determines which rear wall you order.

Ordering

Gecko is supplied in a single body size for the Flir Ax5, with custom lengths to 300 mm available.

Order numbers are specific to the window type and the rear wall rather than to the enclosure alone — a Germanium window carries its own part number, for example — so the configuration is fixed at the point of order.

Where it fits

Gecko is the compact end of the range. Where a camera needs more length, a larger window or a different mount, Salamander and Orca cover the same environments in bigger bodies.
